The Via Crucis of Camille: An Artistic Journey
The Via Crucis of Camille is a series of ten movies that chronicle Camille's arduous journey and preparation for the cross. This cinematic endeavor delves deeply into the physical and emotional trials Camille experiences throughout her transformative process.
The inaugural session of The Via Crucis of Camille began shortly after Camille and Jac returned from New York. This marked the beginning of a challenging yet profound artistic mission.
The chosen location for the film set was their own bedroom. To bring authenticity to the environment, Edmundo—renowned as the jack of all trades who had served JJ and his family for many years—was enlisted to install a wooden post in the center of the room.
The Symbol of the Cross
This wooden post became their cross, from which Camille would be suspended repeatedly over the course of almost two years. It stood as a powerful symbol and physical anchor for the unfolding narrative.
The work itself was structured around two fundamental elements: the scourging and the crucifixion. These components were central to accurately portraying the suffering and endurance inherent to Camille's journey.
Only these essential elements were necessary. The primary goal was to discover the most evocative and compelling means of representing this profound experience through film.
At the heart of the project lay Camille's mission: to embody and express the agony and resilience of the Body in Pain enduring crucifixion. Her performance aimed to capture the raw physicality and emotional depth of suffering, transforming it into a powerful artistic expression.
